Commission for Environmental Cooperation Releases ERG-Authored Study
The Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) published findings from an ERG-supported research project, the North American Initiative on Organic Waste Diversion and Processing. ERG supported all components of the project, including research and stakeholder consultation, as well as drafting a white paper and foundational report. The report provides statistics on organic waste generation, diversion, and disposal in North America; details the environmental benefits associated with reducing organic waste disposal; and recommends actions for increasing organic waste diversion and processing across Canada, Mexico, and the United States. With a focus on policy- and decision-makers, it also identifies challenges, opportunities, and best practices for accomplishing these efforts. David Donaldson, head of the Green Growth Unit at CEC, presented the report’s findings with ERG’s project manager Brian Guzzone at a biogas industry conference on March 7, 2018.
