Kathleen Brady

Vice President

Laboratories are some of the most energy- and carbon-intensive facilities in the built environment. Working together, lab owners, managers, users, designers, engineers, and builders are coming up with creative solutions to decarbonize the world’s labs. It’s my job to give a voice to their ideas and help reduce the impact of the research enterprise on the environment and our climate.

Kathleen Brady is a social marketing professional and nonprofit executive focused on helping organizations and voluntary programs inspire consumers and businesses to improve the environment and support sustainability goals. Since joining ERG many years ago, she has used her journalism background and creativity to spearhead a variety of market transformation and behavior change campaigns, from energy efficiency to decarbonization and water conservation to waste diversion.

Kathleen has more than 25 years of experience in organizational management, strategic communications, and meeting facilitation. She oversees a multidisciplinary team of data analysts, outreach specialists, event planners, and designers. She manages ERG’s marketing support for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s WaterSense program, and she serves as executive director for the International Institute for Sustainable Laboratories, which ERG staffs.

Kathleen holds a B.A. in journalism from Michigan State University. In her prior career, she edited a trade newspaper on waste diversion and served as a national spokesperson on recycling. But it was her first job, playing the dancing mascot of a fried chicken restaurant, that hatched her love for making change in the marketplace.
