Dan Connally

Operations Manager

I’m extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to work with so many great and knowledgeable clients and coworkers throughout the country during my career. The projects we’ve worked on together have deepened my appreciation for the difficulties faced by environmental regulators and the regulated community. I continually strive to use my experience and knowledge to develop solutions that work for all parties and meet the needs and spirit of the Clean Water Act.

Dan Connally, operations manager at PG Environmental (a division of The ERG Group), brings to his work over 20 years of experience in National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit development and enforcement of Clean Water Act regulations. As PG’s operations manager, Dan provides technical oversight for all aspects of PG’s NPDES program support. Over the course of his career, his clients have included the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; the states of Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon, and Arizona; and the U.S. territories of Guam and the Northern Marianas Islands. His state work has included support for obtaining federal NPDES program authorization and for the development of state policies and implementation procedures.

Dan has extensive knowledge of federal and state wastewater regulations, industrial and municipal wastewater treatment, best management practices, and pollution prevention measures. He has authored numerous complex permits for wastewater, industrial stormwater, and municipal separate storm sewer system discharges that have required the application of unique and technologically innovative operational and treatment controls. Dan is also a credentialed NPDES compliance inspector with experience conducting stormwater, sanitary sewer overflow, and MS4 inspections and evaluating wastewater treatment, wastewater control measures, and best management practices. He serves as a lead instructor for EPA’s NPDES Permit Writers’ Course and has provided numerous EPA training courses on advanced permitting topics for states and EPA Regions. Dan has also supported EPA and the U.S. Department of Justice in many CWA-related enforcement cases. Dan holds a B.S. in biology from George Mason University.
