University Emissions Monitoring System Evaluation and Commissioning
Project Brief
The Challenge
A prominent public research university sought to address emissions monitoring and compliance issues related to its boiler operations. The university operated multiple boilers, several of which shared a continuous emissions monitoring system in need of replacement due to operational and maintenance challenges. To ensure regulatory compliance and operational efficiency, the university needed to assess and select an appropriate emissions monitoring system.
ERG's Solution
ERG thoroughly evaluated the university’s continuous and predictive emissions monitoring systems, resulting in equipment recommendations tailored to the university’s needs. ERG developed a campus-wide emissions monitoring strategy and suggested suitable equipment for replacing outdated CEMS components. ERG helped the university develop a detailed request for proposal for PEMS systems, conduct technical reviews of vendor proposals, and coordinate with vendors, and schedule and manage projects. In addition, ERG ensured the successful commissioning and regulatory compliance of the chosen PEMS through technical assessments, data verification, and post-commissioning compliance evaluations. ERG also provided on-call regulatory compliance support for emergent issues, engineering analyses, design reviews, and programmatic development.
