ERG Launches EPA Tool to Calculate Projected Air Pollution Reductions

ERG recently launched a web version of EPA’s AVoided Emissions and geneRation Tool (AVERT), which allows users to calculate the projected air pollution reductions that result from implementing energy efficiency measures and switching to electricity generated by renewable sources instead of fossil fuels. AVERT is EPA’s first web application that has been completely designed and optimized for hosting in a cloud environment (cloud.gov). ERG used an Agile approach to design and develop a single-page app with an intuitive user interface; it uses cloud computing to complete calculations 80 percent faster than a conventional design.
